The Embassy of the Republic of Ghana in Berlin commemorated the 69th Independence Day of the Republic of Ghana through a series of activities organised in the German capital between 4th and 8th March 2026.
The commemorative programme formed part of the Embassy’s efforts to bring together members of the Ghanaian community in Germany, institutional partners, students, and members of the diplomatic and business community to reflect on Ghana’s independence and to promote Ghana’s culture, tourism, and investment opportunities.

As part of the programme, the Embassy, in collaboration with the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre, organised an online webinar on investing in Ghana on 4th March 2026. The engagement brought together members of the German business community and the Ghanaian diaspora and presented investment opportunities across priority sectors of Ghana’s economy.

On 5th March 2026, the Embassy also commemorated the national anniversary at the Ghana stand during the ITB Berlin tourism fair in collaboration with the Ghana Tourism Authority. Visitors to the stand, tourism stakeholders, and members of the diplomatic community in Berlin experienced aspects of Ghana’s cultural heritage through music, dance, Ghanaian cuisine, and presentations on tourism destinations across the country.
In his remarks during the engagement, H. E. Ambassador Prof. Ohene Adjei highlighted the opportunities within Ghana’s tourism sector and reaffirmed Ghana’s readiness to welcome visitors and investors. He also reiterated the Embassy’s commitment to promoting Ghana as a preferred tourism destination and investment partner.
Subsequently, the Embassy organised a Ghana Day celebration at the Arden University Berlin Campus on 6th March 2026. The programme brought together Ghanaian students, university staff, and members of the wider community and featured a panel discussion alongside Ghanaian culinary presentations.
The commemorative activities concluded with a thanksgiving church service held at the International Christian Church in Berlin on 8th March 2026 with participation from members of the Ghanaian community in Berlin.
