The Union of Ghanaian Associations in Germany (UGAG) successfully held its biennial three-day conference from October 31 to November 2, 2025, hosted by the Ghana Union Oldenburg e.V. The event brought together Ghanaian delegates from across Germany, alongside representatives from the Embassy of the Republic of Ghana in Berlin, to deliberate on how Ghanaians in the diaspora can foster tolerance, integration, and inclusiveness within German society.
Distinguished guests included Hon. Minister Fred Frimpong, who led the delegation from the Ghana Embassy, and the Mayor of Oldenburg, Mrs. Christine Wolff, who delivered a welcome address emphasizing unity, diversity, and peaceful coexistence
In his address, UGAG President Mr. Emmanuel Ossei-Wusu called for strengthened unity among Ghanaian associations and ethnic groups under the UGAG umbrella. He underscored the importance of empowering youth and expanding partnerships with key institutions such as the Ghana Embassy in Berlin, GIZ, and the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) to advance community development and diaspora engagement.
A keynote message delivered on behalf of H.E. Prof. Ohene Adjei, Ghana’s Ambassador to Germany, encouraged greater participation of second- and third-generation Ghanaians in diaspora affairs to preserve Ghanaian identity and sustain community initiatives abroad.
The conference also featured engaging sessions on racism and discrimination within the German community and welfare and support systems for Ghanaians in the diaspora. Discussions highlighted practical strategies for inclusion, reporting mechanisms for discrimination, and the role of collective advocacy in promoting equal opportunity
The three-day event concluded with the election and swearing-in of new UGAG national executives for the next two-year term. The oath of office was administered by Hon. Fred Frimpong, representing the Ghana Ambassador. Click here for more pictures
